Shade Family Foundation Scholarship

Requirements:

Applicants must be an African American graduating from Leake Central High School interested in pursuing a Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and  planning to attend a junior college or university in the state of Mississippi.

 

Scholarship Inclusion:

The recipient of this scholarship will receive a $1,000 scholarship paid directly to the junior college or university of his/her choice.

 

Application Requirements:

Applicants will be required to submit a 2-4 minute video presentation answering the following question.

 

Why do you wish to pursue a career in STEM?

 

Please include the following in your response:

• Introduction. Tell us your name, where you are from, your current high school, and where you plan to attend college.

• Response. Why do you wish to pursue a career in STEM?
• Personal. What area of STEM do you plan to pursue and why?
• Lessons. Explain the importance of the field in today’s society.
• Benefits. How does that career affect the world around you?
• Closing. What do you think you will bring to the table with your STEM degree?

 

Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA; must submit school transcript when applicable.

 

Some Advice:

• Try to restate the questions in your response.
• Remember posture is important.
• Record your video with appropriate lighting using a neutral background.
• Pick a quiet area.
• Dress appropriately.
• Your final submission should be free of grammatical errors.
